Artist Research – Dame Elizabeth Frink

Dame Elizabeth Frink (1930–1993) was a British sculptor known for her focus on natural forms and objects. Her sculptures are made from a combination of metals over distressed plaster, and I really love her large head sculptures in particular with large, angular proportions; I’ve been interested in playing around with faces like these in my own narrative characters.

She also made some interesting drawings with good depth of tone and linework.
