Pixel Art Workshop

Today’s pixel art workshop with Johnny was really interesting as I got to try out a completely new way of working I wouldn’t have considered before. The strict pixel restrictions forced me to think more laterally, especially when thinking more in terms of blocks of colour instead of line. This technique of simplifying an image down to the bare minimum was useful as it allows you to forget details and concentrate more on composition and sequence. My outcomes were fairly successful, though the 30X30 pixel size was a bit too abstracted, and I’m definitely going to make use of method for thumbnails and blocking out sequences.

I later applied this method to a short sequence I was working on, in a 50X100 panel format. It might need a bit of tweaking, but I’m quite happy with the outcome.
