Artist Research – Cy Twombly

Experimental American artist and sculptor Cy Twombly (1928–2011) has some really interesting abstract paintings. He was part of the Rauschenberg era of experimental colour and mark-making, but moving to Italy meant that his approach is more European.

Though to me many of the pieces look more like development drawings instead of final pieces,

These pieces which have a different framing shape seem more refined to me, and I think they could be a great motif for a pattern.
