Research – ‘The Cambridge Photographic Atlas of the Planets’

As I’m not be able to get an accurate view of space from direct drawings, I delved into the library’s old books on planet photography, which reminded me of the encyclopaedias of various topics I loved when I was younger. The Cambridge Photographic Atlas of the Planets was a fantastic start to my research and experimentation as it got me inspired to play with varying colour combinations and media application to create ‘out of this world’ patterns and compositions.

I was particularly fascinated with the detailed photographs of the surface of some of the planets in colour which have amazing natural colour combinations and textures which I’d love to recreate using mixed media.
