Artist Research – Lucy Hardcastle

I came across the young artist Lucy Hardcastle whilst looking through The Pattern Base book, and I was fascinated by her photography and digital images. Her textiles course background means her work is often textured and has a vibrant confident use of colour. I was particularly drawn to her pieces which incorporated different types of material, including metal and water which reminded me of my space theme.

These (above) images are from her ‘Glow’ collection for her final show of her Textile Design course at Chelsea College of Arts.

As a sidenote, I really like her website with a simple layout, large photos and a cool name ‘logo’. Hopefully I’ll create a cool website too before the end of the year!
